JAM Junior Academy of Music
JAM is the first Junior Academy of Music of its kind to be opened in the North East of England and aims to develop musical creativity at an early age by introducing children to rhythmic and melodic techniques.
JAM tuition is aimed at 6 to 11 year olds and experienced musicians will lead the sessions which will include learning music theory and practical skills in Guitar, Drums and Keyboard. JAM is committed to a high standard of teaching and ensuring that they do everything possible to allow every child to fulfill their musical potential. The groups of 20 are perfectly sized; not only creating a great atmosphere, but also making sure that each pupil receives the most from their experience at JAM.
For the children, this is an exciting opportunity to become a member of the first musical academy of its kind and enjoy music education in a relaxed, fun and safe environment. Sessions focus on learning the foundations of music, building confidence (leading towards performing) and increasing pupil’s musical knowledge.
The JAM1 programme lasts for 20 weeks and looks at the foundations to music theory, and the early techniques used to play guitar, piano and drums. JAM1 culminates in the pupils graduating from the programme in a finale performance with their family and friends in attendance.
They will then continue their musical development in the next stage of the programme, JAM2. This is similar to the JAM1 programme (and again lasts 20 weeks) but JAM2 then looks at music performance and theory in much more detail and aims to further develop the pupil’s musicality. Pupils who wish to further their music education will then be offered a place on an individual instrumental tuition programme which takes place at Apollo Music Service, a purpose built music studio, located in Stockton within the Stockton Business Centre.
JAM Junior Academy of Music is a chance for young students in the area to be a part of something which Apollo Arts envisage will change music education not only in the area but nationally, allowing Teesside to become a region renowned for developing quality musicians from an early age.
